Inaugural season

The Consett Sunday League was set up in 1967 after a series of meetings between local businessmen.

Its first season, 1967/68, saw 12 teams compete in one division. The first champions were Blackhill North Eastern, and Consett Victoria runners-up.

The league today

The league today has 36 members, affiliated to Durham FA, all with the FA's Charter Standard, which is a condition of membership.

Appeal for memorabilia

League Secretary Gary Welford is currently researching the history of the league, its teams and its players.

Anyone with old documents, handbooks, tables, minutes and particularly photographs relating to the Consett Sunday League is asked to contact him.
