CHOPWELL Central booked their place in the final of the Harkness Trophy after
defeating East Stanley WMC 4-1.
Derek Waters hit the net twice, with Andrew Smith and Glen Caygill also scoring,
while Gavin Clews was on target for Stanley.
Meanwhile, there was more misery for Division One front runners Leadgate
Golden Lion this weekend.
Just one week after being cruahed 9-0 at title rivals East Stanley, the team at
the top were unable to field a side for their encounter with fellow challengers
Blackhill Cricketers Ex-Juniors.
In fact, all three games scheduled for Division One failed to go ahead as planned
, with the Shotley Cricketers versus Blackhall Mill and the Burnopfield Sun Celtic
versus Consett No1 WMC postponed due to frozen pitches.
Division Two suffered from three postponements too, but one match did get the
green light.
And that saw Chester-le-Street Whitehills and Duke of Wellington share four
goals in the 2-2 draw.
Adam Kilty got both Duke goals, with Ben Petty and Jamie Nixon registering for
hosts Whitehills.
Two games beat the freeze in Division Three with pick of the games seeing
Consett Freemasons defeating promotion rivals Tantobie Commercial 4-1.
Craig Hampton got two goals, and Craig Garrett and Keiron Barker one apiece
for Masons, while a home player put in his own net for Tantobie.
Elsewhere, a goal from Chris Phillips was good enough to give Stanley Town
the points in a narrow 1-0 win at Dipton Rovers.
